It wouldn’t be the 4th without a beer or two. I’m having a local imperial vanilla porter despite it very much not being dark beer weather. But for $8 for a 4-pack, it was too good to pass up and it’s a good beer.

Spencer Monk’s Reserve. A quadrupel ale aged in bourbon barrels made by a bunch of trappist monks.
It’s delicious.

I’m currently drinking water (at work). But I’m out of here in 90 minutes, and I know my beer fridge misses me immensely.
Tangent: I started a new brew on Monday. Golden milk stout with peanut butter, cocoa nibs, coffee beans, and vanilla beans. The fermenter is in my guest room, and it smells amazing in there.

It’s super good. Spencer beers are, IIRC, the only actual trappist beers made in the US (like, not just the style, but actually made by monks).
The Monk’s Reserve is amazing, but costs an arm and a leg unless you get it from the brewery.
Also, I have some of their Grapefruit IPA, which kicks the shit out of Grapefruit Sculpin.

Nice. I’ll have to check them out. And Sculpin is wildly overrated in general.
